White Force

White Force situated in the gully between Noon Hill and Cronkley Fell is a little known force mainly because it only flows in winter after heavy rain. It is unusual because you can see a plunge pool half way up the sheer rock face.

This one is surprisingly popular even though hardly anyone knows where it is! Just out of interest, I was tipped off by a customer that there is a Black Force in Teesdale. So there's a one to Google. I am painting that one next year.

Hangman's Tree

A large watercolour of the Hangman's Tree in Baldersdale , where it was said local men hung a Scotsman.

I have just been corrected by my local historian friend who told me the story of the tree in the first place, its called the 'Hanging Tree'. Subsequent prints will be called this! If you have a Hangman's Tree print this is now a rare commodity!

Aysgarth Falls

Wensleydale

The next few images below are recent works from late 2011

I'm doing a few of Aysgarth Falls as there is so much there to paint, endless cuts in the rock strata, mossy rocks and white water in contrast.

mother.vss Mother and Child

Swaledale Sheep Study. All of these are watercolours, but some people thought they were pastels as they look really soft.

Mother and Child , yes I know, corny title, but what else do you call it? Two sheep? Well I did that below, titles aren't my thing.

You can get these in card packs , see web shop. Look out for collies and more farm related scenes in 2012.

£300
Two Ewes

A portrait of Two Swaledale Ewes, farmers out there, yes I know I could have picked better specimens to paint! Its just a Swaledale sheep to me!

Anyway I have put a special price on this at £275

By the way all of the paintings on this page are also framed with conservation materials.

The Fairy Cupboards

Woden Croft

near Cotherstone

This is a view of the Fairy Cupboards in Cotherstone at the end of September, trees just turning colour.

I had to wade out there into the Tees, knee deep in fast flowing water trying to keep balance, and even so people still have to ask , 'Did you do a sketch for that?' I'm not Turner I don't do tying myself to masts in storms, about the time he died someone invented the camera.
