Teaching

I occasionally teach community art classes to adults in Teesdale, these classes usually take place during the holiday periods.

I teach traditional watercolour techniques and drawing from life. Topics include, watercolour landscapes, painting flowers, composition, colour mixing, figure drawing, still life.

Students are also encouraged to experiment and discover  Modern and Contemporary Art. To this end we have visited a variety of exhibitions throughout the north for example; Salts Mill; near Bradford; Abbot Hall Art Gallery, Kendal; BALTIC, Gateshead; Biscuit Factory, Newcastle and The Tate Gallery Liverpool.

Beginners are welcome at workshops.
You will mainly need to bring watercolour paper, watercolour brushes, size 7 and 10 (or 14)
Three colours in tubes, (Alizarin Crimson, Cobalt Blue or Ultramarine Blue, and Cadmium Yellow), a mixing palette, (or old white plate) and a water pot.
Also a sketch book and pencils of different grades would be useful for some drawing lessons.
